The Waldorf 7.5/10

This week we dined at The Waldorf in Covent Garden, their afternoon tea is served in a beautiful Versailles-like room with a harp playing gently in the background. The prices vary from £25.00 per person to £34.00 if you want to turn it into a champagne afternoon tea although we managed to get ours on a Groupon deal which meant we got -50%. Bargain!

We first had a champagne cocktail with our mini sandwiches (we obviously had to re-order some of the smoked salmon ones as they are always the best) then on to tea and cakes.
This is when is went downhill, the scones were marvellous and traditional but the presentation of the cakes and tarts was quite disappointing and only one of each type!

Go for the scones and fruit tart, please avoid the dense green tea Madeleine.

And so it begins...

Starting this very week Geraldine Watson and myself, Daisy Watson will be lunching and critiquing. Whether it may be a chain restaurant one week or the chiquest of chique hotels the next... we will be out there.

Watch out Chefs, the Watsons' are coming.
